Timbo Training to UCP reprentatives and UCP’s partners
From 14 to 24 February 2020, in two different places: Muhazi Beach Hotel and Four steps Hotel, respectively in Eastern and Southern provinces of Rwanda, 14 Americans and 15 Rwandans benefited from a training on Trauma-responsive Innovations for Mind and Body, organized by TIMBo in collaboration with Ubuntu Center for Peace (UCP), a Rwandan organization.
The TIMBo Collective is a platform of mind/body teachers, yogis, educators, mental health professionals, activists working through partnerships with local and global organizations to create transformation from the inside out.
Through a psychosocial healing model, the training focused to emotional management techniques including yoga, share of personal experiences, spiritual meditations and body work exercises.
It was a training of trainers working within the community with traumatized people, mainly women, who in return might bring about positive change in their families and communities.
That is why, apart nine UCP representatives, other six representatives came from local partner organizations working in the field of psychosocial healing. Those organizations are ITUZE CENTER, SEVOTA, CONSEIL PROTESTANT DU RWANDA AND CEFAPEK.During the training, the trainers and trainees visited together the Akagera National park. And after the training, the TIMBo group from USA took the opportunity of visiting different new places in Rwanda before the end of their stay in Rwanda.
